The dystopian story, “Harrison Bergeron” by Kurt Vonnegut, was read and discussed. Next week, they will write their Cornerstone Essay, where they will read a story and write about the theme and what literary devices were used by the author to reveal the theme. They will have two sessions to complete the essay. Rubric can be found below:
Gr. 8 had introductory activities leading to the People Power Revolution. They were also given a map of Metro Manila, Philippines that they had to fill out as they learn about the revolution. Using these notes and slides the students discussed the People Power Revolution.

Gr. 8 worked on lab demos on chemical reactions. Next week they will be assessed on lab practicals. They will be given an experiment to do and they will be observed and assessed on following directions, measurement, lab techniques, graphing, communication of physical and chemical changes, and using safety practices. Students are reminded to use the third person point of view when writing lab reports. Some of them are still using “I” in their sentences.
Students learned about Similar Triangles. Next week will be about Pythagorean Theorem. The test will be after CWW.
